Healing Oils Of The Bible

BIBLICAL ESSENTIAL HEALING OILS

"There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise..."  Proverbs 21:20

The first medicines that ancient Egyptians used were Essential Oils.  They used a special technique of low temperature and lengthy distilling time of 20 to 35 hours.  This made a top Grade A oil used for healing.  The Hebrews learned and used the same technique to produce oils.  A commonly used Hebrew word for anoint was "masach" or "mishcah" or "moshchah."  It is interesting that these Hebrew variations of the word for anoint are similar to the English word "massage" both in meaning and in pronunciation.  Essential oils are referenced many times in the Old and New Testaments.  They were a part of daily living among Israelites, Jews, early Christians, and their Gentile neighbors throughout Biblical times.  It would be accurate to say that essential healing oils, their plant sources, and/or their uses are mentioned in the Bible more than a thousand times.

ALOES/SANDALWOOD Santalum album: Used for skin care, enhances deep sleep (stimulating release of melatonin); supportive of female reproductive and endocrine systems; has been applied for urinary tract infections.
